Hard water, also called limestone water, is a fairly common problem among Quebec households. Hard water is water that contains a high concentration of minerals like calcium and magnesium. Slightly hard water contains between 1 and 3.5 grains per gallon, medium hard water contains between 3.5 and 7 gpg, and then hard water contains between 7 and 10.5 gpg.
